Description
Fernco shear banded couplings are specifically designed to connect and repair pipes on adopted sewer and drainage applications, as required by the UK water companies. The stainless steel central band protects the joint under shear loads and helps to keep the joining pipes aligned, helping to prevent pipe displacement.
Features & Benefits:
- Used to connect two plain ended pipes when additional pipe alignment protection is required, usually when a joint is subject to heavy shear loads.
- Withstands internal pressure of up to 2.5Bar.
- Stainless steel shear band helps prevent pipe displacement.
- Less excavation compared to replacing a whole length of pipe.
- Made from EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) and two high performance stainless steel clamp bands.
- Provides a reliable flexible seal which is watertight and airtight.
- Universal, can be used on any pipe material.
- Can be installed even in cold or frosty conditions.
- Allows quick and easy emergency repairs.
- Works well with connections that may not seal perfectly.
- Resists UV rays, root growth, sewer gases, bacteria, and various chemicals.
- Repair of existing pipe systems by replacing short sections of pipe.
Applications:
- Drain Couplings to connect unadopted drainage systems, and also recommend the use of Shear Banded Couplings for any drainage connection underground for added reassurance of joint alignment over time and to follow best practice.
- Shear banded couplings are advised for all connections made on adopted drainage systems to protect water company assets.
