Description
A foil-faced, Polyisocyanurate (PIR) strong, rigid multi purpose board suitable for self-supporting applications in floors, walls and roofs.
Features:
- Suitable for use as a thermal insulation layer on concrete, metal or timber flat roofs, with access limited to maintenance only.
- Can withstand the loadings in ground bearing floors.
- Produced with a zero ozone depletion blowing agent.
- Low thermal conductivity mean less material is required to achieve a given thermal resistance than for most other insulants.
- GWP (Global Warming Potential) of <5>
- During its service life the insulation will save many times more energy than is taken to manufacture it.
- Remains stable at temperatures up to 400°C – At higher temperatures a protective char forms on the surface, slowing the spread of flame.
- May be used safely behind non-flammable materials such as plasterboard – It has achieved a Class 1 surface spread of flame rating when tested to BS 476-7:1997.
- Low moisture absorption capacity, making it suitable for use in damp environments.
- The foil laminate facing gives the boards a high vapour resistance.
- Does not rot and does not contribute to the growth of mould, nor does it support insects or other pests.
- Extremely low thermal conductivity, making the required thickness of insulation less than for most other insulants.
- The foil laminate facings can also contribute to improved thermal performance – The low emissivity surface of the reflective foil can cut radiation heat transfer across an adjoining air space.
- When installed in accordance with manufacturer’s guidance and industry codes of practice it has a service life comparable to that of the rest of the building.
